The Eternal God
The Eternal God is the Creator, Sustainer and Sovereign of all creation.
01. Where is God first mentioned in the Bible?
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
02. How old is God?
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. (NKJV)
03. What is God's domain?
The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.
04. Does the Bible recognise any other god but God?
33 Has any nation ever heard the voice of God speaking from fire—as you did—and survived?
34 Has any other god dared to take a nation for himself out of another nation by means of trials, miraculous signs, wonders, war, a strong hand, a powerful arm, and terrifying acts? Yet that is what the LORD your God did for you in Egypt, right before your eyes.
35 He showed you these things so you would know that the LORD is God and there is no other.
05. How powerful is God?
20 He said, “Praise the name of God forever and ever, for he has all wisdom and power.
21 He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars.
Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.
06. How are we to understand God?
18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.
19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
07. Does the Bible record the Father addressing the Son?
Psalm 110:1 (see also Hebrews 1)
The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit in the place of honour at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet."
08. How close did the Bible prophesy that Jesus and God the Father would be?
For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
09. How does the Bible describe God's character?
6 The LORD passed in front of Moses, calling out, “Yahweh! The LORD! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.
7 I lavish unfailing love to a thousand generations. I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin. But I do not excuse the guilty. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children and grandchildren; the entire family is affected - even children in the third and fourth generations.”
3 Long ago the LORD said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself."
10. How does God feel about His relationship with us?
And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father".
11. What did Jesus say about us recognising God as our Father?
And don’t address anyone here on earth as ‘Father,’ for only God in heaven is your spiritual Father.
12. What wonderful promises does God make to those who call on His name?
1 I will praise the LORD at all times. I will constantly speak his praises.
2 I will boast only in the LORD; let all who are helpless take heart.
3 Come, let us tell of the LORD’s greatness; let us exalt his name together.
4 I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
1 But now, O Jacob, listen to the LORD who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.
2 When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.
3 For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
13. How do we communicate with God the Father?
But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
14. How aware is God the Father of our needs?
Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!
15. How closely did Jesus see His relationship with the Father?
8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”
9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.
16. Is it true that God wants us to have a relationship with Himself?
28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
John 4:10, 13-14
10 Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”
13 Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again.
14 But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”
“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.
However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them.
27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me,
29 for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.
The Bible tells us clearly that God is calling us into a meaningful and intimate relationship with Himself. Wouldn't you like to answer that call and begin a relationship with your God today?
